This class will introduce and fine-tune the classical ballet movement while building strength and flexibility. Ballet vocabulary and technique is taught through barre and center floor work, including movements across the floor.
This ballet inspired, low impact, aerobic class fuses fluid balletic movements with small staccato actions to trigger hard to work muscles. BARRE tones and sculpts the outer physique into a lean dancer's shape. This fitness class is perfect for women and men of all ages and strength levels and can be taken at your own pace with an increase in difficulty or at a modified level. Teen and Adults must register online each time they plan to come to class. **If there isn't more than one adult registered for ballet classes 3 hours prior to class, the class may be canceled that day.**
We want our teens and adults to be comfortable while taking classes, so please wear workout or ballet attire you can move comfortably in for all classes.
The appropriate shoes for the technique are required. Ballet shoes must be worn in all ballet classes. Socks with grips (yoga socks) or jazz sneakers must be worn in all BARRE classes. Jazz shoes or Ballet shoes must be worn for Jazz class.
NO outside shoes are to be worn on the studio floor. Please take off shoes prior to entering the studio floor.
Ballet shoes or jazz sneakers should not be worn outside the studio. Dirt and oils collected on the bottom of the shoes are harmful to the dance floor in the studio. This applies to all dance shoes.
A Yoga Mat or towel will be needed in order to take Barre Class. Extra towels will be available if you forget your mat, however, we will be on the floor quite a bit during class, so a mat will allow for more comfort while performing floor exercises.
In BARRE Class light weights (2-4lbs) will be used, however, you may opt not to use weights if you feel it is too difficult. There will be a few sets of each weight supplied.
Only bottled water is permitted in class. Please no open containers to prevent spills and damage to the flooring.
